This dog is an ABSOLUTE doll!!! Smart as a whip, quick to learn and very sweet. He spends every evening curled up next to me on the couch while I watch DVDs . . . He just lays quietly and accepts his nightly petting. Sweetest thing in the world!!!

 

Dog Training Program

The Tompkins County SPCA offers a wide variety of classes to match you and your dog's age and experience. All classes are supervised and held in a clean and safe environment. We use only positive training methods.

Obedience Class

Two new beginner sessions will begin in January:

Tuesdays, 6:30-7:30, start date is Jan 5
Thursdays, 6:30-7:30, start date is Jan 7

Cost is $85,
($65 for dogs adopted from the SPCA of Tompkins County)

The class is based on positive awards based training, and includes clicker training.

Puppy Play and Learn!

Instructor: Lisa D'Annibale
Every week is a party in this six week course designed to socialize your puppy during the peak of his or her socialization window. We provide a clean, safe, and fun atmosphere for your pup to develop his or her social skills, build their confidence, and teach them the very beginning of good puppy manners to ensure them a happy and well adjusted life!

For puppies 8 - 20 weeks old.
JUMP IN AT ANY TIME!

NOTE! TIMES HAVE CHANGED!

Saturday, 12:30 - 1:30 pm for all puppies 8 - 12 weeks old & small breed pups 8 - 20 weeks old

Saturday, 1:45 - 2:45 pm medium/large breed pups 13 - 20 weeks

Doggy Play Time

Why:

  • Supervised environment for dogs
  • Two different classes at different times, one for large dogs and one for small dogs
  • Assist in the learning and development of social skills
  • Advance socialization skills he/she already has
  • Owners learn about dog interactions
  • We have a large and a small doggy pool for the hot weather
  • Large fenced in area (dogs cannot get out)
  • Great alternative to the Dog Park and the money goes to assist the local Tompkins County SPCA

Where:
When it's very cold the small dogs play indoors otherwise we meet in the large fenced in area behind the Rescue Building.

Every Sunday!
Times sometimes change based on weather and sunset time so . . .
