"Each community must decide for itself what steps to take and how to build its path. By sharing our successes and failures, we can help each other learn, but no single philosophy or program can provide a substitute for the energy and excitement that comes from our hometowns. And we believe it is this energy and excitement that will lead to a future in Tompkins County where every creature will be respected and cherished, and where every individual life will be protected and revered".

Nathan J. Winograd, Executive Director

Donations of $50, $100, $500, $1,000 or in any amount are greatly appreciated!

NAMED GIVING OPPORTUNITIES

Dog Wing Already Taken!

Gone are the cages and rows of kennels. At the new shelter, every dog has room to train, play and live. Natural light streams from windows and skylights and toys offer entertainment and stimulation.

Cat Wing $200,000

Gone are the blocks of small isolated cages. Cats have private condos, with perches for sunning, trees for climbing, and lots of toys for stimulation. Through picture windows, they can also watch the birds outside.

Atrium $150,000

Enter the new shelter to a spacious room, where skylights and translucent doors let light stream in from every direction. The atrium includes a multi-purpose room for dog training and other events, and plenty of comfortable space where people and pets meet and greet each other.

Dog Socialization/Play Space Already Taken!

All the dogs who enter the new shelter will be assessed by our expert trainers, and given extra socialization and behavior training to prepare them for their new homes. They’ll play and learn outdoors in a safe and fun environment.

Spay/Neuter Room $50,000

Ensuring that the shelter does not contribute to overpopulation, all TC SPCA animals will be spayed or neutered before adoption.

Spay/Neuter Recovery Room $50,000

After surgery, our pets will be allowed to recover in a quiet environment before they make their way to our adoption rooms.

Board Meeting/Conference Room Already Taken!

The TC SPCA Board of Directors, public officials, veterinarians and veterinary students will have a room to meet and make important decisions that affect the lives of our animals; while volunteers and students and other groups will learn about the SPCA and its lifesaving work.

Dog Play Room $30,000

A room for group play and off-leash fun will allow for bonding, stress reduction and training, particularly in inclement weather, and further ensure the dogs’ physical and mental health.

Executive Director’s Office Already Taken!

With a view of the cats, dogs, medical facilities, and atrium, the Executive Director’s Office will be centrally located on the main floor with an open door and a friendly smile. This central location will ensure that both our animal and human guests have a welcome stay at the SPCA --no matter how long or brief.

Adoption Office Already Taken!

A private room to allow for adoption counseling and screening will help make sure every match is a good one and that our pets go on to loving and lasting homes.

Cat Porches (2) $20,000 each

Surrounded by a cluster of cat condos, the porches will allow fresh air and sunlight to stream in. Potential adopters will enjoy open space to meet and greet the cats.

Kitten Porch (2) $20,000

Surrounded by a cluster of kitten condos, the porches will allow fresh air and sunlight to brighten and warm the space. Potential adopters will be able to meet and greet the kittens in comfortable open space.

Dog Grooming $20,000

Making sure every dog is not only healthy and happy but clean and pretty will be a cornerstone of the new shelter. A dog grooming room will allow us to help our dogs look their best while they wait patiently for loving, new homes.

Feature Dog Apartments (2) Already Taken!

The first dogs seen by potential adopter will have a leg up on the rest. These apartments will house dogs who have been at the shelter the longest or have impediments to adoption such as age, health, or physical disabilities.

Feature Cat Condo $15,000

This condo will house cats who have been at the shelter the longest or have impediments to adoption such as age, health, or physical disabilities. Because they’re extra special, these condos will give them first billing with potential adopters.

Cat Get Acquainted Room $15,000

A place to visit with a potential new best friend, this room will allow adopters a private and spacious room to cuddle, play and have a heart-to-heart with one of our homeless kitties.

Dog Apartments (8) Already Taken!

Gone are chain link fencing and barren kennels. Doggy apartments will ensure that dogs remain happy and healthy in spacious, clean, well-ventilated rooms with windows and skylights for ample and natural light.

Puppy Apartments (3) Already Taken!

No more chain link fencing. Puppy apartments will ensure that puppies have room to run and play. They’ll be happy and healthy in spacious, clean, well-ventilated rooms with windows and skylights to provide natural light.

Kittens will purr for sure when greeting their adoptive families. With ample space to sleep, play, and relieve themselves in privacy, they’ll be healthier and happier during their stay at the shelter
